Questioner:

A man has earned a lot wealth from singing, then Allah guided him to Islam. So what is the ruling of this wealth?

Shaykh Muqbil ibn Hādī al-Wādi’ī:

The ruling of this wealth – by the will of Allah, is permissible for him since he earned it in his state of misguidance [as an non-Muslim]. I do not know anything that prohibits it, and he does not know who the wealth belongs to so that he can return it. So if he is in need of it, then he should spend it on his needs, but if he isn’t in need of it and wishes to give charity with it, then he may spend in charity, and Allah’s protection is sought.
