Some of the callers who bring about tribulations have maligned Imām al-Barbahārī and his book: Sharḥ-us-Sunnah. What are your comments regarding this?
Shaykh Ṣāliḥ ibn Fawzān al-Fawzān:
This is not something which is exclusive to Imām al-Barbahārī. They maligned the Messenger ﷺ. Allāh ﷻ stated:
“Among them are those who find fault with you [O Muḥammad] regarding the distribution of charity donations. If they are given a portion of it, they become pleased. But if they are not given, behold! They become enraged!” [Sūrah at-Tawbah 9:58]
“And among them are those who insult the Prophet…. (They insult the Prophet!) …..and say: ‘He is an ear….. (Meaning, he listens to anyone i.e. doesn’t differentiate between the truthful and the liar) …..Say to them: ‘He listens to what is in your best interest; he believes in Allah, trusts the believers and is a mercy to those of you who believe’. But those who insult Allah’s Messenger will have a painful torment.” [Sūrah at-Tawbah 9:61]
So If they insulted and maligned the Messenger ﷺ, how can it be expected that they will not malign other than him?! Hypocrisy remains and continues. The hypocrites have successors and followers until the Day of Judgment.
