As for your statement O’ Questioner: “Is it correct to say that there is in this era, an individual or a group of individuals in our country – the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia [who are flag bearers of alJarḥ wa al-Taʿdīl], and [is it permissible to say specifically] such a person is the flag bearer of alJarḥ wa al-Taʿdīl?”

I say to you: Yes, it is correct to say that in this era there are some individuals who carry the flag of alJarḥ wa al-Taʿdīl. They are known for their devotion to the Qurʾān and its sciences and to the pure sunnah and its sciences, and in spreading and defending them. Allah ﷻ has bestowed upon them understanding of the religion in general and has given them understanding of calling to Allah ﷻ whilst giving them understanding of major events [al-nawāzil] specifically. There is no harm in me mentioning some examples of them, and the following are limited to those who are alive:

1. Shaykh Ṣāliḥ ibn Fawzān al-Fawzān

2. Shaykh ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz Āl-Shaykh

3. Shaykh Ṣāli al-Luḥaydān

4. Shaykh ʿAbdullāh al-Ghudayān

5. Shaykh Aḥmad al-Najmī

6. Shaykh Rabīʿ ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī

7. Shaykh ʿAbd al-Muḥsin al-ʿAbbād

8. Shaykh Ṣāli ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz Āl-Shaykh

9. Shaykh ʿUbayd al-Jābirī

10. Shaykh Ṣāli al-Suḥaymī

11. Shaykh Muḥammad ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī

12. Shaykh Sulaymān ibn ʿAbdillāh Abā Khayl

They are virtuous scholars, and there is not one amongst them except that he has striven greatly protecting and defending the sunnah and its sciences. They have blessedly strived in refuting the innovated sects and [their refutations are] widely spread around the world. They have guarded the correct ʿaqīdah and the Islamic methodology…
