Questioner:

There are many books and tapes of some of the scholars, such as Shaykh Rabīʿ ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī, Shaykh Zayd ibn Muḥammad al-Madkhalī and Shaykh Aḥmad ibn Yaḥyá al-Najmī, so do you advise with listening to their tapes and [reading] their books, and are they from the scholars of this Ummah?

Shaykh Ṣāliḥ ibn Muḥammad al-Luhaydān:

In regards to Shaykh Rabīʿ and Shaykh Zayd, the two Madkhalīs – then I know them both very well. They are people of [sound] ʿaqīdah and loyalty to the ʿaqīdah. Shaykh Rabīʿ as it is known, is a graduate of the Islamic University in al-Madīnah, and he is from the students of Shaykh ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Bāz and [those of] his rank, so the man [Shaykh Rabīʿ] is an excellent man! And likewise [Shaykh] Zayd from the tribe of “al-Madākhilah” and he is also known for the same affair.

As for [Shaykh] Aḥmad al-Najmī, then I do not know him personally, and as the poet previously said: “Do not praise a person until you have tested him, and do not criticise him without trying him.” However, if he is upon the same methodology as the [aforementioned] two, then nobody would call them and gather with them and traverse their path except the one who is like them.
