Ramaḍān is the most virtuous month of the year, in which the Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ stated that whoever stands in prayer during its nights with faith and in hope of reward will have his previous sins forgiven. During this blessed month, the Salaf al-Ṣāliḥ would exert themselves in worship, reduce their involvement in worldly affairs, and devote their time to prayer, fasting, recitation of the Qurʾān, remembrance of Allah ﷻ, and righteous deeds. They would remain in the masājid, guard their fasts from backbiting and sin, and carefully preserve their time from being wasted in matters of no benefit. Unlike the heedlessness found among many today, they were vigilant, disciplined, and sincere in their pursuit of spiritual excellence. This lecture is delivered by Abū Ḥakīm Bilāl Davis.
