Muqbil al-Wādiʿī’s Letter to the Scholars During His Illness

A short extract in which Muqbil al-Wādiʿī expresses hope that his recorded letter to the scholars may be a cause of recovery and asks that it be regarded as his testament if he dies.

Shaykh Muqbil ibn Hādī al-Wādiʿī (d. 1422 AH/2001 CE) ؒ said:

To begin, this is my letter to the scholars, which I deliver while ill. For all you know, it may be a cause of my recovery, by Allah’s permission.

It is mentioned in the biography of Muḥammad ibn Ismāʿīl al-Amīr that he suffered from an illness, perhaps chronic diarrhoea. He came across a book written by the people of innovation and misguidance, burnt it and used it as fuel to cook some food. He ate the food and recovered by Allah’s permission.

I therefore hope that this recording will be a cause of my recovery, by Allah’s permission. If Allah takes my life, it should be regarded as my final testament…
