Masjid Daar us Sunnah

All praise is due to Allah , who guided us to Islam and honoured us with the opportunity to serve His religion. The mosque is the heart of the Ummah, and it is by His grace alone that, since 2010, Masjid Daar us Sunnah has been able to serve the Muslims of London as a centre of faith, knowledge, and community. Whatever good has come from this effort is from Allah , and any shortcoming is from ourselves.

Allah says:

“The mosques of Allah are only to be maintained by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day, establish the prayer, give the zakāh, and fear none but Allah. It is they who are expected to be upon guidance.” [Q 9:18]

As the community continues to grow, we humbly ask Allah for a permanent home that reflects our commitment to the Qurʾān and the authentic Sunnah, so that, in shāʾ Allah, a lasting legacy may be built for future generations.

The Messenger of Allah said:

“Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him a house like it in Paradise.”

Reported by al-Bukhārī and Muslim.

Our Foundations

Masjid Daar us Sunnah is a community-based Islamic centre founded upon the Qurʾān and the authentic Sunnah, as understood by as-Salaf aṣ-Ṣāliḥ (the righteous predecessors). It is a place of worship, learning, and spiritual development, dedicated to nurturing sincere faith, sound knowledge, and upright character within the Muslim community, for the sake of Allah .

Allah says:

“And whoever opposes the Messenger after guidance has become clear to him and follows a way other than the way of the believers, We shall leave him to what he has chosen and burn him in Hell, and what an evil destination.” [Q 4:115]

Muḥammad ibn Sīrīn (d. 110 AH/728 CE) said:

“They used to learn guidance and conduct just as they used to learn knowledge.”

Reported by al-Khaṭīb al-Baghdādī (d. 463 AH/1071 CE) in al-Jāmiʿ li-Akhlāq ar-Rāwī wa Ādāb as-Sāmiʿ.

From its inception, the masjid has sought to be more than a place of prayer. It is a spiritual home for believers who wish to strengthen their relationship with Allah , deepen their understanding of Islam, and support one another in righteousness. We aim to provide a balanced environment in which worship, education, and community service work together to form confident and principled Muslims.

Allah says:

“And cooperate with one another in righteousness and piety, and do not cooperate in sin and transgression.” [Q 5:2]

Our History

Masjid Daar us Sunnah was established in 2010 as a small gathering of sincere believers. It was Allah alone who gave that effort growth, and by His grace it developed into a recognised centre for worship, education, and daʿwah. Through regular prayers, structured lessons, and a wide range of community programmes, thousands of people have benefited, both locally and internationally. All praise belongs to Allah for this, and we ask Him to accept it.

This journey has been founded upon sincerity, sacrifice, and the continued support of people of goodness who seek only the pleasure of Allah . We thank every person who has given of their time, wealth, and supplications, and we ask Allah to reward them abundantly.

Allah says:

“Whatever good you send forth for yourselves, you will find it with Allah. Indeed, Allah sees all that you do.” [Q 2:110]

Worship and Community Life

The masjid maintains the five daily prayers, Jumuʿah, Islamic classes, study circles, and regular reminders. Through these programmes we strive to make authentic Islamic knowledge accessible, relevant, and practical for everyday life, and to nurture individuals who practise Islam with sincerity, wisdom, and consistency, and who embody its teachings in both private and public life.

The Messenger of Allah said:

“No people gather in one of the houses of Allah, reciting the Book of Allah and studying it together, except that tranquillity descends upon them, mercy envelops them, the angels surround them, and Allah mentions them among those who are with Him.”

Reported by Muslim.

Mukhallad ibn al-Ḥusayn (d. 191 AH/807 CE) said:

“We are in greater need of much good character and manners than we are of much ḥadīth.”

Reported by al-Khaṭīb al-Baghdādī in al-Jāmiʿ li-Akhlāq ar-Rāwī wa Ādāb as-Sāmiʿ.

Education is a central pillar of our work. We hold that correct knowledge leads to correct action, and for this reason we emphasise learning that is grounded in reliable primary sources and guided by qualified scholarship.

Allah says:

“So ask the people of knowledge if you do not know.” [Q 16:43]

The Messenger of Allah said:

“Whoever Allah intends good for, He grants him understanding of the religion.”

Reported by al-Bukhārī and Muslim.

ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Mubārak (d. 181 AH/797 CE) said:

“I do not know of any rank, after Prophethood, better than spreading knowledge.”

Reported by adh-Dhahabī (d. 748 AH/1348 CE) in Siyar Aʿlām an-Nubalāʾ, in the biography of Ibn al-Mubārak.

ʿAbd Allāh ibn Wahb (d. 197 AH/812 CE), one of the great students of Imām Mālik ibn Anas (d. 179 AH/795 CE), said:

“What we acquired from Mālik’s manners was more than what we acquired from his knowledge.”

“And say, ‘Work, for Allah will see your deeds, and so will His Messenger and the believers.’” [Q 9:105]

Our Community

Masjid Daar us Sunnah and DUSDawah work together to build a strong, informed, and spiritually healthy community. We aspire, in shāʾ Allah, to nurture individuals who are confident in their faith, beneficial to their surroundings, and committed to spreading goodness wherever they may be.

The Messenger of Allah said:

“The believer to another believer is like a building, each part strengthening the other.”

Reported by al-Bukhārī and Muslim.

We warmly welcome people from all backgrounds, whether lifelong Muslims, those rediscovering their faith, or those seeking to learn about Islam. Our doors remain open to all who approach with sincerity and respect.

Looking Ahead

Our aim, in shāʾ Allah, is to remain a centre of worship, learning, and daʿwah that benefits present and future generations, though we know that success lies in the hand of Allah alone. As the community grows, we ask Him to grant us success in establishing a permanent home that reflects our commitment to the Qurʾān and the authentic Sunnah.

Allah says:

“Whatever you spend in good, He will replace it; and He is the best of providers.” [Q 34:39]

The Messenger of Allah said:

“When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who supplicates for him.”

Reported by Muslim.

We ask Allah to accept our efforts, to forgive our shortcomings, to place barakah in this work, and to make it a means of guidance for ourselves and for others.

“Our Lord, accept this from us. Indeed, You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.” [Q 2:127]
