Selling Perfume to Women

A man from France asks if he is responsible for women who buy perfume and use it outside the home. Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan replies that the seller is not responsible. Women are accountable for their own actions, so the shop can sell to both men and women.

Question:

I’m from France. I wish to open a perfume store for men and women. Am I responsible for the women who buy the perfumes and apply it outside the house, and do I have to place a public sign that such a thing is not permissible for women to do?

Shaykh Ṣāliḥ ibn Fawzān al-Fawzān:

Not at all. Sell perfume to both men and women. The women are responsible for how they use it. You are not responsible.
