A profound reflection from Shaykh Ḥammād al-Anṣārī on Sūrat al-ʿAṣr, highlighting its ability to summarise the message of the entire Qurʾān.
Shaykh Ḥammād al-Anṣārī (1345–1418 AH / 1926–1997 CE) said:
“If a person were to reflect deeply upon Sūrat al-ʿAṣr, his certainty would increase that the Qurʾān is the Speech of Allah, the Most High. This is because there is no one besides Him capable of encompassing all goodness within three short verses.” He then cited the statement of Imām Muḥammad ibn Idrīs al-Shāfiʿī (150–204 AH / 767–820 CE), who said: “If the people were to contemplate this sūrah, it would suffice them.”
