This important and timely reminder by Dr. ʿAbdulilāh Laḥmāmī warns against the dangers of extremism and excess in religious belief, practice, and conduct.
He explains that Islam is a religion of balance, moderation, and wisdom. The Qur’an and the Sunnah guide believers toward a middle path that avoids both negligence and exaggeration. Extremism leads to hardship, division, and misrepresentation of the religion.
Dr. ʿAbdulilāh highlights how excessive harshness, rigid interpretations, and emotional reactions without knowledge can result in injustice and harm, both to individuals and communities. At the same time, he cautions against abandoning religious principles under the guise of “moderation.” The lecture emphasizes the importance of seeking sound knowledge from trustworthy scholars, maintaining humility, and adhering to the methodology of the Salaf. Through balance and sincerity, believers are protected from falling into extremes.
This reminder calls upon Muslims to embody mercy, justice, patience, and wisdom while remaining firm upon the truth.
May Allah ﷻ protect us from misguidance, grant us balance in our religion, and keep us steadfast upon the Sunnah. Āmīn.
