Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān explains that Islamic centres have a responsibility to clarify matters to the authorities and help calm tensions. He advises Muslims to return to their Islamic centres to resolve issues and address community concerns wisely.
“O esteemed Shaykh, the Muslims in Britain are in need of your advice on how to deal with some of the problems occurring in recent days from that which they are facing of harm due to a soldier being murdered by an extremist Muslim. Is it upon the Islamic centres [In Britain] to hold meetings of clarification with the police to calm the situations?”
“Yes, this is from the duties of the Islamic centres to bring clarity to the government. The Islamic centres take the place of the (Muslim) ruler in its lands, they are to be returned to. Muslims should return to them in order to solve their problems.”
