22 Principles Regarding Innovation and Its People – Dr. ʿAbdulilāh Laḥmāmī

This important and insightful lecture by Dr. ʿAbdulilāh Laḥmāmī outlines twenty-two foundational principles related to religious innovation (bidʿah) and those who promote it. The reminder is grounded in the Qur’an and the Sunnah, upon the understanding of the righteous predecessors, and aims to protect believers from deviation and confusion.

Dr. ʿAbdulilāh explains that every form of worship and belief must be based upon authentic evidence and sound understanding. Introducing new practices into the religion without proof weakens sincerity and leads people away from the prophetic path.

The lecture clarifies how to recognise innovation, how to respond to it with wisdom and justice, and how to maintain balance between firmness upon the truth and good character in dealing with others. It emphasises that refuting falsehood is a form of sincere advice when done with knowledge and proper manners.

Students of knowledge are reminded of their responsibility to study these principles carefully, to avoid emotional reactions, and to follow scholarly guidance rather than personal opinion.

This reminder serves as a guide for preserving the purity of the religion and strengthening one’s commitment to authentic practice.

May Allah protect us from misguidance, grant us clarity in belief, and keep us firm upon the Sunnah.
