Jesus Is the Messiah in Islam

A thoughtful discussion between Anwar al-Maghribi and a Christian about the true Islamic view of Isa (Jesus). In Islam, Jesus is a great Prophet and Messenger of Allah ﷻ, who taught the oneness of Allah ﷻ and His attributes. He is not divine or the son of Allah ﷻ.

Books to Refute Christians

For debating Christians, Ibn Taymiyyah’s al-Jawāb al-Ṣaḥīḥ and its abridged version are essential. Other recommended works include Ibn Qayyim’s Hidāyat al-Ḥayārā and rebuttals by al-Qarāfī and al-Juwaynī. The Qurʾān itself remains the most powerful source for refuting false Christian claims.

Answering Christians Who Say Jesus Is Allah ﷻ

The claim that Jesus is Allah ﷻ because he was created from Allah’s ﷻ spirit is contradictory. The Qurʾān states that Allah ﷻ created Jesus through a divine breath given by an angel, and Adam was similarly created from clay with a divine breath. Therefore, creation through a breath does not make one divine, and the Christian argument is logically inconsistent.

Eating Meat from Jews and Christians

However, if it is known that they do not slaughter according to Islamic rules, then their meat becomes impermissible, just like a Muslim who does not follow proper slaughter.

Don’t Debate Christians Using the Bible – Use the Qur’an and Sunnah

Shaykh Muqbil al-Wadi’ advises that calling Christians to Islam should be done with the Qur’an and Sunnah, not by using the Bible. The Prophet ﷺ used the Qur’an when addressing non-Muslims, and relying on other scriptures may lead to error or rejecting truth.
