Collecting Donations for the Masjid is Permissible
Shaykh Zayd al-Madkhali states that collecting donations after Friday prayer to cover mosque rent and expenses is permissible and virtuous, provided the collectors are trustworthy, spend funds as promised, and there is no objection from authorities. It is a form of helping in righteousness.
