Shaykh Muhammad al-Jami explains that Allah’s ﷻ power is absolute, but questions like whether He can make a partner for Himself are absurd. Such ideas do not suit Allah’s ﷻ greatness, so the premise itself is rejected.
A philosopher may ask you an awkward question, I have actually been asked this question on more than one occasion, Is Allah ﷻ capable of making unto himself a partner?
One should be cautious when answering such a question. It is not to be answered by saying ‘no’ or ‘yes’, but rather it is answered by saying the Ability of Allah ﷻ has no relativity to such absurdities due to the fact that they do not befit (the grandeur of) Allah ﷻ The Most High; not that Allah ﷻ is unable to bring such things into existence. This is the answer.
