Shaykh Salih al-Luhaydan advises students to abandon Yahya al-Hajuri and seek knowledge elsewhere, emphasising that knowledge is not confined to one teacher. He stresses that defending a scholar is only permissible if one is certain of their soundness and absence of innovation.
Our Shaykh, may Allah ﷻ protect you. Is the warning of Shaykh Yaḥyá al-Ḥajūrī by Shaykh Rabīʿ ibn Hādī ʿUmayr al-Madkhalī taken? Please benefit us, may Allah ﷻ protect you.
If he refuted this individual, then I do not believe that Shaykh Rabīʿ would write against someone whom he doesn’t know.
So is the warning of Shaykh Rabīʿ ibn Hādī ʿUmayr al-Madkhalī taken?
I hope there isn’t a problem In shā’ Allāh. Bring me the statements because I don’t know the man [Yaḥyá al-Ḥajūrī] nor have I read his statements so that I may give my opinion based upon knowledge.
Our Shaykh, may Allah ﷻ protect you. Shaykh Rabīʿ said that he advised him, and advised him and advised him. However [al-Ḥajūrī] didn’t want to return [from his mistakes] may Allah ﷻ protect you. Meaning he [Shaykh Rabīʿ] brought evidence.
Look for another person [to study under] O’ brother, abandon him. Knowledge isn’t confined to one person.
Yes our Shaykh. The one who defends him, what is his case?
No, no do not defend him. Do not defend anyone except that you know he is sound from defect [innovations].
