Praying Fajr After Sunrise: Is It Valid?

A man consistently delays Fajr prayer until after sunrise while performing other prayers on time. Shaykh Muḥammad ibn Ṣāliḥ al-ʿUthaymīn explains that praying Fajr after its time without a legitimate excuse invalidates the prayer, and habitual sleep is not an excuse. He urges the man to pray Fajr in congregation.

If the Friday sermon contains slander against the scholars of the Sunnah or the rulers, you may distract yourself from listening and complete the prayer, then avoid returning. If you can reach another masjid of the people of Sunnah in time, you should attend there instead.

No Forgiveness for One Who Abandons Prayer

Shaykh Ṣāliḥ ibn Fawzān al-Fawzān explains that if a person dies abandoning the prayer intentionally, good deeds performed on their behalf, including charity and fasting, will not benefit them. Forgiveness should not be sought for such a person if they died in that state.
