Ḥajj and ʿUmrah
Shaykh Ibn Baz explains that Hajj is valid even if a person has debt, but clearing the debt should be prioritized. Hajj is only obligatory for those who are able, while repaying debt is obligatory, so one should settle debts first unless they can do both together.

Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan explains that the first Friday athan is legislated and was practiced by the Rightly Guided Caliphs. It was introduced by Caliph ʿUthmān, and though Ibn ʿUmar called it an innovation, scholars clarify it as a good linguistic innovation, not a religious one.
Seeking and Teaching Knowledge
Shaykh Muhammad al-Madkhali advises beginners to start with the fundamental sciences: Aqeedah, Tafsir, Hadith, Fiqh, Usul al-Fiqh, Usul al-Hadith, and the Arabic language. Once these are mastered, they can move on to advanced studies in stages.
Marriage
Shaykh Muhammad al-Madkhali advises that if a student’s sexual desires increase and he cannot marry where he studies, he should return home, marry to protect his chastity, and then continue seeking knowledge later. Marriage becomes obligatory in such a situation.
Ramaḍān and Fasting
Shaykh Muqbil ibn Hadi al-Wadi’i explains that there is no prohibition for a menstruating woman to touch or read the Qur’an, nor to attend classes or lessons in the masjid. The hadith preventing this is weak, and the Prophet ﷺ allowed women to participate in most worship activities during menstruation.
Family Relations
Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan advises that the best book to read to your family at home is Riyāḍ al-Ṣāliḥīn, as it contains beneficial sayings of the Prophet ﷺ. He also recommends reading teachings on prayer and ablution so the family becomes aware of these rulings.
Recitation and Etiquettes
Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan explains that when someone greets you while you are reciting the Qur’an, you should finish the verse first and then reply. Greeting during recitation is not prescribed as it interrupts and disturbs the recitation.
Scholars and Students of Knowledge
Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan advises that fatwa must be sought from trustworthy scholars known for their knowledge and piety. The recipient should avoid those who issue rulings without proper knowledge, and instead rely on established scholars who are firm and reliable.
Recitation and Etiquettes
Shaykh Abd al-Aziz ibn Baz explains that there is a narration about the Companions reciting Surah al-Kahf on Fridays, but the hadith attributed to the Prophet ﷺ is weak. The companions’ practice indicates they heard something, but the evidence is not strong.
Ḥadīth Study
Shaykh Muhammad Nasiruddin al-Albani explains the hadith where the Prophet ﷺ forbids sitting partly in the shade and partly in the sun. A person must choose either full shade or full sun, as sitting split between both is not allowed.
Tafsīr
Shaykh Ali ibn Yahya al-Hadadi explains that Allah ﷻ commands believers to fear Him and speak truthfully. Speaking good and truthful words leads to righteous deeds and forgiveness. Obeying Allah ﷻ and His Messenger brings great success in this life and the Hereafter.
Innovation and Innovators
Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan explains that books of the people of Sunnah are available, and one must search for them. Relying on innovators or their books is forbidden, as they are like deadly poison, so do not depend on them for knowledge.
